Motivated by their own children’s struggles, The Village Tutors was formed in 2004 when a group of women, formerly known as The Reading Ladies, began to provide one-on-one, evidence-based support for students who struggled in reading.
The Village Tutors provide flexible, compassionate support for students with learning challenges. These areas include dyslexia, ADHD/ADD and processing challenges, as well as non-verbal and expressive and receptive learning disorders. We work with high functioning autism spectrum disorder students and those with mental health challenges.
The following is a partial list of the multi-sensory, evidence-based programs that The Village Tutors are trained/certified in:

These programs are explicit, structured teaching methodologies that are proven to help students improve word attack, decoding, comprehension, spelling, fluency, writing, handwriting, and math skills. The Village Tutors focus on continuing, best-practice professional development for our tutors. Our tutors were among the first to be trained in both the Rush Medical/ Neurobehavioral Center's Executive Functions Skills Building Program © and RAVE-O© (Tufts University, Boston).

Many of our students have IEPs, 504 plans, and professional evaluations. We are familiar with accommodations, benchmarks, and terminology.
